Once Bonitoes, George and Mary living in a far-away village decided to join a school party. The party was to take place on Sunday in the school yard. There was going to be a best fancy dress competition. So, the three friends decided to get the best costume to disguise themselves and to win the contest.
Far from it! It turned out next to impossible for the friends to find a worthy idea. Actually, the village was cut out from the rest of the world because of great recent rainfalls. Bold George suggested an audacious idea of using a big balloon and flying to the nearest city. Luckily, Mary was sensible and discouraged the boys from doing it. She thought that the victory was not vital, and their school fellows were not their rivals.
Then, Bonitoes decided to create costumes of noble knights and their lady. It was a fanciful idea, for he had missed the history lesson devoted to the epoch of knights. Bonitoes used everything handy from his house. By Friday the costumes were ready. Bonitoes invited his friends ready to surprise them. And he did… Looking at the costumes Mary and George felt embarrassed. On the one hand, Bonitoes had tried hard and deserved praise, but the costumes had nothing to do with knightship.
Finally, Mary burst out laughing. She explained to her friend that he had created wonderful costumes of a bear and a shark, so they’d better go to the party in the costumes of animals. And she herself preferred to be a butterfly accompanying these creatures. Guess what? The friends won the competition!
